Originally inhabited by the Kumeyaay people, Otay has a rich history dating back thousands of years. The area was later colonized by Spanish missionaries and settlers before becoming part of the United States following the Mexican-American War. Today, Otay is home to a number of historic sites, including the Otay Ranch Adobe, which dates back to the 19th century.
